Make a Monster:
children play a counting and word game to make a
monster.
Skills:

Materials:
die, 10 picture cards, 10 word cards
Procedure:
- Prepare a large sheet of butcher paper with the outline
of a large round body and a head.
- Read: Abiyoyo by Pete Seeger.
- Prepare word strips with the names of the body
parts.
- Secure the outline on a wall or table and the word
cards, word side down, near the outline.
- Choose a "Monster Maker".
- Have this child roll the die and choose a word strip. If
the number "5" was rolled and the word "eye"
was chosen, the child can choose a felt pen and draw 5 eyes on
the face.
- Repeat until everyone has had a turn.
Variations:
- Group makes a monster on a piece of 8-1/2 x 11 inch
paper so you can make copies for everyone to bring
home.
